I’m so thrilled SA Menswear Week SS16 went by without a hitch. The long anticipated event was attended by an over-subscribed list of media, buyers, sponsors and fashion enthusiasts. THANK YOU to all the attendees and media – both local and international – for the incredible turn up, support, and the energy you brought at #SAMW over showcased African designers.
Almost 30 sought after menswear labels from around six African countries took part in the South African Menswear Week at the Cape Town Stadium in Green Point. The fashion event showcased the latest Spring & Summer trends for men and a few unisex collections during the past weekend.
#SAMW is a new platform, exclusively developed for menswear fashion in Africa. It was launched earlier this year (February 2015) in the city of Cape Town. It’s main focus is to raise awareness of, and educate South Africans on the depth and talent of local menswear as an alternative to imported/international clothes.
The founder of the event, Ryan Beswick, says menswear is the biggest growth area in fashion and the event aims to further grow it.
